SELECTION PROCESS

Selection for the 2021 Tournament of Champions contested at The Golf Club of Tennessee will once again be based on the player’s adjusted scoring average. This system was met with great success the past eight years and we are pleased to be using it once again in 2021. Please read the following information carefully to get a full understanding of how the system will function.

The tournament courses have been divided into tiers of difficulty. A courses difficulty is determined by its course rating which has been established by the Tennessee Golf Association and its Course Rating Teams . Each one of the tiers carries a different weight. The more difficult the course (higher rating)the more weight a score from that course carries. Since each division may be playing on different courses and from a different set of tees, each individual division has their own tier structure. The following are the tier structures for the Masters Division in 2021:

To determine a player’s adjusted score, first find the tournament course name on the attached charts below (they are separated by boys and girls). Once you find the tournament course, the course rating will be located under the division you are competing in (the course ratings in these charts are preliminary and will be finalized when the Sneds Tour Staff set-up the golf course on the tournament day). Compare the tournament course rating with the charts above and determine which tier that course rating falls under. Take that tier number and go the multiplier chart above to determine which multiplier to use. Finally, multiply your tournament score by the multiplier and you will generate your adjusted score.

 For example:

Division:Boys 16-18 MastersGirls 16-18 Masters
Course:B.T. at Tim's FordChampions Run
Course Rating:70.771.0
Tier:IIIVIII
Multiplier:0.9900.965
Score:7592
Adjusted Score:75 X 0.99 =  74.2592 X 0.965 =  87.40

A player must play in at  LEAST FOUR (4) tournament rounds (36-hole events count as two rounds) to be eligible to compete in the 2021 Tournament of Champions. At the end of the season, the player’s TOP THREE (3) adjusted scores will be averaged to determine their season scoring average. Based on those adjusted scoring averages, a percentage of players from each division will be selected to attend the Tournament of Champions.

** If a tie for a last spot in a particular division occurs, the player with the lowest adjusted round will be given the spot. If there is still a tie, the next lowest adjusted round will be used, and so on. If a tie cannot be broken final spots will be determined by lot
